And by back to college, I mean I just got home after a 400 km or so trip. The Tipo behaved like a million bucks, even better than when I went home a month ago, thanks to an extensive maintenance list, including, but not limited to, new wiring, new gaskets and seals, new suspension bushings, new spark plugs, and all new exhaust system.
Yep, I had to get rid of the loudass straight pipe, but then again, that system was hardly adequate, as it was an amalgam of at least 3 different types of tubes, from previous repairs and replacements. It sounded good, but it would probably end up harming the engine in the long run. Plus, I'll have to take the car to inspections soon, to change the owner's address, and the straight pipes just wouldn't fly. But hey, at least now I have a proper sports exhaust installed in the car, which means I won't come out of every drive partially deaf right?
Yeah, no. If the car sounded good before, now it sounds plain awesome. At low revs, it's actually pretty quiet, with a low pitched rythmic grumble coming from the exhaust, but get the tach north of 3000 RPM and it turns into a throaty metallic rumble, about as loud as before, but much thicker. Awesome. I'll get some pictures up tomorrow, there's not much to look at, the car's exactly the same since all repairs were internal, but at least the chrome tips are different
